My name is Darrel Jackson Jr, I have been an avid drag racing fan since the age of three. As a passionate photographer, it just made sense to combine the two.
I have been involved with several bracket racing programs. From my father’s 1978 Cutlass; that was campaigned in NHRA Super Street and IHRA Hot Rod, to Michael Pinder’s Top Sportsman Pontiac GTO; which has claimed multiple victories since it’s debut in 2020.
I made the big decision to create Jayy Racing Coverage in 2018. Jayy Racing Coverage is an Instagram page where I share all my photos and videos of my good times at the racetrack. Later in 2018 I would buy my first camera. A Nikon D3500. It was definitely a learning curve but it wasn’t long before I got aquainted.
In 2019, I shot my very first PDRA event, and from there the JRC brand took off. Since making the decision to shoot with the PDRA full time I have shot at many races I only dreamed to go to.
In 2023 I accomplished a major goal in my book in being selected for the prestigious Drag Illustrated 30 under 30 class. It was a true honor to also be the first African American photographer to be featured on the list. I have a long list of goals to go but I am honored to have received my first achievement from Drag Illustrated Magazine.
